New Highlight:Termas del Sol in Rio Puelo

Termas del Sol in Chile

A new highlight can be found in the rural surroundings along the shores of Reloncaví Fjord: The Termas del Sol, which we had the pleasure to visit just before its inauguration in mid-December 2019.

We almost missed the unassuming sign on the main road, which marks the short entrance road. It definitely does not do justice to this jewel nestled in the area’s extraordinary natural surroundings! From the entrance, where locker keys and towels are handed over, a short boardwalk takes us through Southern Chile’s typical dense vegetation to an oasis of hot springs. Ten open air pools merge into the mountainside perfectly. The area boasts with geothermal energy, and in fact, the 60 degrees hot water is cooled down to allow for bathing. As a result, the pool temperatures range between an agreeable 36 – 45 degrees Celsius, making it easy to spend various hours soaking, unwinding and taking in views.

The establishment counts with lockers, bathrooms and a highly recommendable cafeteria (with delicious pizzas and mouthwatering desserts).

The Termas del Sol can best be visited as part of the “Volcanoes, Forests and Fjords” self-drive tour that takes our clients through the rural area around Reloncaví Fjord. The route via Puelo is also an interesting alternative for clients travelling south to Hornopirén from Petrohué or Puerto Varas. Starting from Ralun to the ferry at Caleta Puelche, the access road is (still) mostly gravel.
