The Chilean Government announced that as from Sunday, May 1, 2022, all the country’s land border crossings, located on the international borders with Argentina, Bolivia and Peru, will be reopened. Most of these complexes have been closed since mid-March 2020 as a precautionary measure due to the pandemic.
Safety measures have also been announced to control the flow of people and private vehicles, as well as to prevent outbreaks of the disease. The latter includes a mandatory declaration of travelers and a vaccination requirement upon entering the country, with the voluntary homologation of the vaccine to access the mobility pass. Once in Chilean territory, it is also required for inter-regional travel on public transport and entry to closed places.
In addition to the above, there will be people who will be randomly selected to undergo a PCR or antigen test. In the event that the national and global sanitary situation worsens, the Health Authority has foreseen a progressive increase of control measures at the entry points to the country.
