3500 Jahre alte Alerce-Bäume

Alerce trees up to 3,500 years old

Luma Park is a 50-hectare private nature reserve owned by Andes Viva in Chile’s Lake District. Visitors can experience ancient Alerce trees, tranquil evergreen forests, and nature conservation up close. The project protects endangered forest ecosystems near the Carretera Austral and offers gentle hikes through unspoiled nature.

Here, travelers will find one of Patagonia’s rarest landscapes: tranquility, seclusion, and ancient giant trees that have remained virtually untouched.

Nature conservation is the motivation.

The Los Lagos region has been shaped by forestry for decades. Many of the originally widespread forests have been significantly reduced – especially the valuable Alerce stocks.

The Luma Park addresses exactly this:

  • Protection of endangered forest ecosystems
  • Preservation of ancient tree species
  • Protection of biodiversity
  • Preservation of nearly untouched natural areas

Ziel:
A long-term, sustainable preservation of unique ecosystems – without commercial use.

✔ Further development of selected hiking trails

To ensure safe and sustainable visitor management.

✔ Construction of a small, nature-friendly shelter

A simple retreat for hikers, ideal for nature observation.

✔ Educational programs for visitors

Information about ecosystems, biodiversity, and nature conservation.
